Malik Jones

In 1997 Malik Jones, a young African-American man, was shot to death by New Haven Police officer Robert Floodquist. The shooting ocurred after a car chase as Malik was sitting in his car, unarmed. Floodquist smashed the car window with the but of his pistol and then shot several rounds into Malik's body at point-blank range. Since the shooting, Malik's mother, Emma Jones, has worked tirelessely to try to obtain an impartial investigation into the shooting, and to bring accountability to policing. Here are some articles entirely or partially about Malik, and his mother's campaign for justice.

In addition the New Haven Advocate has an index of articles on the case.

Emma Jones has made common cause with Justice for Woody, as was the keynote speaker at the Birthday Candelight Vigil to Honor Woody.
