Woodwards and Public Stonewalled by State
Sorrell's Attorney General's office went to extraordinary lengths to stop discovery by the Woodwards' attorneys, successfully petitioning a federal court to enjoin the Woodwards' attorneys from obtaining access to any of the evidence. The Attorney General would not even agree to share information with the family under the condition that they agree to abide by an order of confidentiality. This action by Sorrell is in keeping with a pattern of behavior by officials to serve their bureaucracies rather than the people.
Even with the conclusion of Sorrell's 'investigation' on April 2, the stonewalling continued with Sorrell's office refusing to release the detailed autopsy and ballistics reports, and audio copies of the 911 tapes.
