West Side of the Goat Crest

An impressive sea of granite, so characteristic of the Western Sierras, extends to the west of Munger, the peak directly across from Goat Peak from which we viewed Arrow Peak. There is a distinct progression of hue in the rock from orange through green and blue as it receedes in distance. This seems to be hard to account for by atmospheric perspecitve alone.
This ridge continues the slope of granite in the picture above. The cross-country route goes between the saddle-shaped double peak in the middle and the notched peak to the right. It's a gradual walk up to the pass, with a steep descent on the north side.
